About the Role

As the Insight Officer, you will lead the design and delivery of qualitative research and data analysis that supports strategic planning and service improvement. You’ll turn complex information into compelling insights, enabling evidence-based decision-making at every level of the organization.

Your work will directly inform the British Red Cross’s humanitarian response — identifying emerging needs, highlighting vulnerabilities, and uncovering opportunities to make a lasting impact.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of qualitative research projects, including interviews, surveys, and literature reviews.

  • Analyze diverse datasets to identify patterns, opportunities, and actionable insights.

  • Prepare clear, visual, and engaging insight reports and presentations to support leadership and operational teams.

  • Collaborate with departments across the organization to ensure evidence-based strategies.

  • Respond rapidly to insight requests, synthesizing complex information efficiently to guide time-sensitive decisions.

  • Contribute to strategic planning by transforming data and evidence into practical recommendations for service improvement.


Qualifications / Requirements

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and assess data reliability.

  • Strong understanding of research methodologies, including qualitative and quantitative approaches.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills – able to collaborate across diverse teams and priorities.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong IT proficiency, including Excel, PowerPoint, and design tools such as Canva.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Desirable

  • Experience working in a humanitarian, nonprofit, or public sector context.

  • Familiarity with rapid insight or impact assessment approaches.
