Impact Program Assistant – OCCRP

The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) is recruiting an Impact Program Assistant to join its Impact Team on a one-year, fixed-term contract. This remote role will support OCCRP’s mission to strengthen investigative journalism and expand its influence in the global fight against corruption and organized crime.

OCCRP is one of the largest investigative journalism organizations worldwide, headquartered in Amsterdam and active across six continents. As a nonprofit newsroom, OCCRP partners with media outlets to publish groundbreaking investigations that hold power to account. Its development arm provides tools, training, and resources to strengthen investigative outlets globally.

OCCRP’s work is organized around four pillars:

  • Investigations – cross-border investigative reporting.

  • Infrastructure – resources and training for journalists.

  • Innovation – technology and tools for journalism.

  • Impact – partnerships and strategies to amplify the reach of investigations.

Position Overview

The Impact Program Assistant will help expand the impact of OCCRP’s journalism and data through partnerships, outreach, and analysis. The role involves both strategic collaboration and day-to-day operational support.

This position is full-time, remote, and location flexible, with expected overlap with Central European Time (CET). The initial contract is one year, with possible extension depending on performance and funding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support operations of a project fostering data-focused cooperation between investigative journalists and academic researchers.

  • Coordinate with civil society organizations on asset identification and recovery efforts linked to illicit funds.

  • Initiate outreach and follow-up activities to maximize the impact of OCCRP network investigations.

  • Contribute to grant reporting, fundraising, and program administration.

  • Assist with contact management, network mapping, and documentation of interactions.

  • Provide research and analytical support to the Impact Team.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in political science, economics, criminology, journalism, or related field preferred.

  • Strong understanding of international corruption, organized crime, and illicit finance; familiarity with asset recovery is a plus.

  • Familiarity with investigative journalism and its role in accountability.

  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills with experience managing international collaborative projects.

  • Strong research abilities and professional-level English writing skills.

  • Highly organized with an ability to improve team systems for contact and project tracking.

  • Entrepreneurial, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
