Strategic Partnerships and Grants Manager

Background

This role spearheads the grant funding strategy for the global Social Impact Partnership between ChildFund Rugby and World Rugby, focusing on securing resources for initiatives that leverage rugby for positive social impact. The position has two primary responsibilities:

  1. Leading Grant Applications
    • Identify, assess, and manage high-potential grant funding opportunities.
    • Develop and submit high-quality funding proposals in collaboration with stakeholders.
    • Oversee the end-to-end grant application process.
    • Keep partners updated on progress and new opportunities.
  2. Growing the Funding Portfolio
    • Diversify funding sources, including:
      • Bilateral and multilateral institutions
      • Non-traditional institutional funders
      • Trusts and foundations

Partnership Overview

The partnership between ChildFund Rugby and World Rugby is built on using rugby to drive social impact globally. The collaboration spans multiple years and builds on past success at four Rugby World Cup events.

  • ChildFund Rugby: Led by ChildFund Australia, representing a global network (ChildFund Alliance) operating in 70+ countries.
  • World Rugby: The international governing body of Rugby Union with 132 member federations.

Key Duties

Opportunity Management and Development

  • Research and identify high-potential grant opportunities.
  • Assess opportunities against strategic criteria.
  • Maintain a dynamic opportunity pipeline for partner visibility.
  • Expand funding sources through non-traditional and emerging donors.

Proposal Development and Grant Management

  • Lead the preparation and submission of high-quality proposals.
  • Ensure stakeholder input and compliance with donor requirements.
  • Deliver timely and insightful reports for active grants.
  • Manage donor relationships and monitor grant performance.

Partnership and Capacity Sharing

  • Strengthen the institutional fundraising capacity of partners.
  • Provide mentorship and training in grant management.
  • Support partners in developing donor engagement strategies.
  • Foster collaboration to maximize funding success.

Cross-Cutting Priorities

  • Champion gender equality in project designs and implementation.
  • Promote disability inclusion in all proposals.
  • Integrate social inclusion principles into applications and stakeholder engagements.

Experience and Skills Required

Project Management

  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
  • Experience in planning, executing, and monitoring grant-funded projects.
  • Track record of meeting deadlines and managing priorities.

Communication and Writing

  • Exceptional proposal and report writing skills.
  • Clear and persuasive communication for diverse audiences.
  • Strong relationship management and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in French is advantageous.

Strategic Thinking and Analysis

  • Deep understanding of donor trends and funding landscapes.
  • Analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset for identifying opportunities.

Technical and Digital Skills

  • Proficiency in grant management and data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with project management software.
  • Experience with digital platforms and Sport for Development is a plus.

Employment Details

  • Contract: Full-time, 12-month initial contract with the possibility of extension.
  • Location: Remote.
