About the Position

LSM seeks a Staff Accountant to support the financial operations of its US-based 501(c)(3) organization, which operates internationally. Reporting to the Director of Finance & Operations, the Staff Accountant will manage core accounting functions, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide essential financial insights to support the movement’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records including general ledger, monthly balance sheets, income statements, and P&L reports

• Manage monthly bank reconciliations, accounts receivable and payable, and payroll accounting

• Reconcile cash disbursements, customer accounts, and ensure correct account coding

• Prepare and file tax forms with federal, state, and local authorities

• Support annual audit preparation and liaise with external auditors

• Administer purchasing and invoicing systems

• Assist team leaders with financial inquiries and reporting

• Recommend and implement updates to accounting software systems

• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Qualifications

• QuickBooks Online certification (mandatory)

• Minimum of two years in finance (for-profit or non-profit), supporting an organization with at least 25 staff

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Deep understanding of accounting principles and procedures

• Strong organizational and analytical skills

Ideal Skills

• Experience working with multiple currencies

• Proficiency with tools like Bill.com and Ramp

• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Spanish and/or Italian is a plus

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

• Minimum of three years of relevant experience
