Job Overview
The Senior Technical Advisor for Livelihoods provides global leadership, technical support, and strategic guidance to strengthen and expand ChildFund’s Livelihoods programs worldwide. You will play a pivotal role in designing high-quality, innovative programs, securing grant funding, and ensuring impactful outcomes aligned with ChildFund’s global mission.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership and Program Quality

Provide expert technical guidance to enhance ChildFund’s global Livelihoods initiatives.

Ensure program designs incorporate evidence-based methodologies and reflect best practices for sustainable livelihoods and child well-being.
Grant Proposal Development

Lead the technical development and management of grant proposals in coordination with the Director of Program and Product Design.

Align proposals with ChildFund’s Results Framework, strategic priorities, and global best practices.
Resource Mobilization and Partnership

Collaborate closely with the Business Development and Grant Acquisitions teams to identify and secure diverse funding sources.

Cultivate strategic partnerships with external stakeholders, including government agencies, multilaterals, foundations, and the private sector.
Livelihoods Grant Acquisition

Manage the Livelihoods grant acquisition portfolio, coordinating proposal development and technical documentation with the Grant Acquisitions Advisor.

Create and maintain comprehensive capacity statements, technical methodologies, and best practice documentation.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MERL)

Work with the MERL unit to guide program evidence, impact assessment, and the development of thought-leadership products in livelihoods.
Capacity Building and Training

Provide virtual training and mentorship to staff and partners, enhancing organizational capabilities in livelihoods programming and grant management.
Required Qualifications
Experience
-
8-10 years in progressive program management or technical advisory roles related to livelihoods, economic empowerment, or child development internationally.

At least 3 years of international field experience in a developing country context.

Demonstrated expertise in designing large-scale grant proposals for donors such as USAID, EU, UNICEF, foundations, and multilaterals.

Extensive track record securing funding from various donor types and building strategic donor relationships.

Proven success in technical writing, proposal development, and documentation of best practices.

Strong experience in strategic livelihoods programming that integrates innovative approaches and child rights perspectives.
Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Youth Development, Economics, International Development, or related field required.

Master’s degree in Youth Development, Livelihoods, Economics, or a related discipline strongly preferred.

Additional Requirements
