Position Overview

ChildFund seeks an experienced Senior Technical Advisor in Child Protection to enhance and expand our global protection programs. You will lead technical design, proposal development, and resource mobilization, ensuring our protection initiatives effectively address gender equality, empower women and girls, and promote social inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership and Program Quality

  • Provide strategic and technical leadership to strengthen ChildFund’s global child protection portfolio.

  • Ensure protection programs reflect current best practices, integrate gender equity, and utilize evidence-based methodologies.

Grant Proposal Development

  • Lead the technical development of high-quality proposals, aligning with ChildFund’s Results Framework and global child protection practices.

  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Program and Product Design to ensure proposals are evidence-driven and impactful.

Resource Mobilization and Partnership

  • Partner with the Business Development and Grant Acquisition teams to diversify funding and secure grants for ChildFund’s protection programs.

  • Cultivate strategic relationships with international donors, foundations, governments, and other key stakeholders.

Protection Grant Acquisition Portfolio

  • Manage the grant acquisition portfolio, focusing on proposal development, management, technical documentation, and best practices highlighting gender empowerment and social inclusion.

Collaboration with MERL Unit

  • Work with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) team to guide evidence-building, impact assessment, and development of thought-leadership materials for child protection.

Capacity Building and Training

  • Provide virtual capacity-building sessions and training for internal teams and partners, strengthening competencies in protection programming, gender equality, and social inclusion.

Required Experience and Qualifications

Experience

  • 8-10 years of progressive experience in child protection, early childhood development, or related technical advisory roles, with a minimum of 3 years international field experience.

  • Proven expertise in designing large-scale grant-funded programs (USAID, EU, UNICEF, foundations, multilaterals).

  • Demonstrated experience securing significant grants from multiple donor sources.

  • Extensive technical writing and proposal development experience, creating impactful program models and frameworks.

  • Strong background integrating gender-responsive approaches, empowerment of women and girls, and social inclusion into child protection programs.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Child Protection, International Development, or related fields required.

  • Master’s degree in Child Protection, Human Services, or related field highly preferred.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%.
