Senior Product Manager, Data Platform (Remote)
Summary
The Wikimedia Foundation is hiring a Senior Product Manager to lead its Data Platform efforts, which enable Wikipedia and its sister projects to serve billions of global users. This role is critical for developing robust data ecosystems that support internal teams and external communities. Key responsibilities include driving product strategy, designing scalable solutions, and collaborating across distributed teams to enhance Wikimedia’s data capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Strategy: Define and execute the vision for Wikimedia’s Data Platform to unify data systems and improve data lifecycle management for internal and public users.
- Data Solutions: Develop solutions for analytics data pipelines, experimentation, and machine learning while addressing technical complexities.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, product teams, and stakeholders to deliver data infrastructure improvements.
- User Engagement: Engage with global teams and public data consumers to ensure platform alignment with organizational goals.
- Performance Monitoring: Leverage data-driven insights for decision-making and track platform performance.
- Stakeholder Management: Effectively manage diverse stakeholder expectations and requests.
Required Qualifications
- Experience:
- 3–5+ years in product management with a focus on data platforms (e.g., data pipelines, analytics, experimentation, ML/AI).
- Proven track record of managing self-hosted third-party software integrations.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Ability to break down complex workflows into actionable plans.
- Experience with platform capability enhancements and scalable architecture.
- Core Skills:
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, including explaining technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Balancing multiple stakeholder priorities and delivering impactful results.
Desired Experience
- Technical Expertise:
- Familiarity with tools like Apache Airflow, Superset, Tableau, and DataHub.
- Experience with event-driven architectures and experimentation platforms.
- Proficiency in SQL and data querying.
- Industry Knowledge:
- Understanding of on-premises infrastructure and large monolithic systems.
- Experience working with international and distributed teams.
- Community Engagement:
- Knowledge of Wikipedia editing or technical contribution is a plus.

Compensation
- US Salary Range: $104,691–$161,585 annually.
- Adjusted pay ranges for non-US employees based on the country of hire.
