Role Overview
The Senior Director, Foundation Partnerships is responsible for driving Mercy Corps’ global strategy to build and manage high-impact partnerships with major foundations. This leader will guide a team of Directors and Deputy Directors, cultivate and maintain a strategic donor portfolio, and serve as a key liaison across internal and external stakeholders. The role focuses on maximizing revenue generation, elevating Mercy Corps’ brand visibility, and influencing philanthropy at the global level.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and execute a comprehensive foundation partnership strategy aligned with Mercy Corps’ global goals.

Manage and mentor a team of four Directors and two Deputy Directors.

Oversee business development, grants management, and relationship cultivation with top global foundations.

Maintain a personal portfolio of strategic foundation donors.

Collaborate with program, policy, and technical leaders to identify funding opportunities and co-create compelling proposals.

Serve as an internal thought leader and external representative to influence philanthropic engagement and elevate Mercy Corps’ visibility.
Qualifications

Proven track record in leading successful foundation fundraising strategies.

Significant experience managing high-performing teams and building organizational capacity.

Strong knowledge of global development and philanthropic landscapes.

Expertise in proposal development and strategic partnership building.

Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Ability to manage complex cross-departmental initiatives and represent the organization externally at senior levels.
