About the Role

UNICEF’s Education Outcomes Fund (EOF) is seeking a skilled and experienced communications consultant to lead and implement its external communications strategy over a 12-month period. The role involves content development, website optimization, event support, and strategic outreach. This is a fully remote position reporting to EOF’s Chief of Operations.


Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

  • EOF Communications Calendar 2025:
    Develop a full-year external communications calendar (by 30 June 2025)

  • Content Development:
    Produce 8 newsletters, 12 outreach emails, and 8 press releases
    First set (4 newsletters, 6 emails, 4 press releases) due by 30 September 2025

  • Website Optimization:
    Write 4 blog posts (approx. 500 words each)
    Update team, board, and program pages (by 31 October 2025)

  • Event Support and Coverage:
    Identify 5 strategic events for EOF participation
    Provide light-touch support for 12 events and full communications for 4 major events
    6 events to be supported by 30 November 2025

  • Program Launch Communications:
    Create and execute comprehensive comms plans for 3 program launches (by 28 February 2026)

  • Content Publishing Guidelines:
    Codify EOF’s tone of voice and publishing checklist
    Review external content (by 30 December 2025)

  • Travel:
    Up to 3 missions, each for 4 working days


Qualifications

Education:

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or higher) in political science, communications, international development, or related fields

  • A Bachelor’s degree is acceptable with 2 additional years of relevant experience

Experience and Skills:

  • At least 10 years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or advocacy

  • Expertise in crafting and executing communications strategies in global, politically sensitive contexts

  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to simplify complex topics for diverse audiences

  • Experience with digital media, international campaigns, and strategic event planning

  • Fluency in English required

  • Preferred: experience in innovative finance, education or ECCE, and working in Africa or the Middle East

  • Fluency in French, Arabic, or Spanish is an asset
