Position Overview

The Senior Caseworker will support IRC’s Unaccompanied Children’s Crisis Assistance Program (UCCAP), which serves children and young adults (ages 0–21) who entered the U.S. without a parent or guardian. This is a remote, client-facing role that provides trauma-informed, brief intervention services to connect clients and their households with crucial resources such as housing, healthcare, legal aid, education, and safety services. The Senior Caseworker will report to the Program Officer.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake and assessments with children, young adults, and household members

  • Develop and implement service plans tailored to each client’s needs

  • Coordinate referrals and service access (medical, mental health, legal, education, etc.)

  • Monitor client progress and update service plans accordingly

  • Respond to crisis situations and develop safety plans when needed

  • Ensure all case documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner

  • Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to child protection protocols

  • Distribute direct and cash assistance where appropriate

  • Maintain and build relationships with local service providers and community partners

  • Support in facilitating workshops and developing resources for clients


Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required

  • Languages: Fluency in both English and Spanish (written and spoken)

  • Experience:

    • At least 2 years of professional experience in child welfare, social work, or a related field; or 1 year with a relevant master’s degree

    • Experience working with immigrant or refugee populations preferred

  • Skills:

    • Knowledge of safety net services and community resources

    • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills

    • Competency in using Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, Zoom

    • Ability to manage a variable work schedule (evenings/weekends as needed)


Working Conditions

  • Fully remote position (based in PST or MT zones only)

  • Requires a private, dedicated workspace

  • Non-traditional work hours may be necessary to meet client needs


Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly wage: $21.60 – $31.53 (based on location and experience)

  • US-based Benefits include:
