Role Overview

As a Senior Data Analyst on the Fundraising Operations team, you will deliver actionable insights, drive data-driven decisions, and optimize global fundraising campaigns. You’ll collaborate with the fundraising leadership to develop key performance indicators and contribute to revenue forecasting, A/B testing, and donor analytics.


Key Responsibilities

  • Data Insights: Provide analysis on global campaigns and strategic objectives to guide decision-making.
  • Key Metrics: Define and track KPIs across fundraising channels.
  • Forecasting: Partner with finance and fundraising teams to develop multi-year revenue forecasts.
  • Testing Strategy: Support A/B testing design, execution, and statistical analysis.
  • Data Transformation: Clean and transform data for improved accessibility and analytics.
  • Peer Review: Ensure data quality and reliability by reviewing team outputs.

  • Advising on A/B testing strategies for donor optimization.
  • Enhancing donor history databases with email interaction data.
  • Building donor propensity models for revenue generation.
  • Deriving key metrics for inclusion in the Wikimedia Foundation annual report.
  • Creating visual dashboards for monthly progress tracking.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Advanced SQL for data transformation and queries.
    • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Metabase).
    • Practical experience with Python/R for statistical analysis.
    • Predictive modeling to solve actionable business questions.
    • Comfortable with version control tools like GitHub or GitLab.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong written and verbal communication for technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Ability to document workflows and troubleshoot data anomalies effectively.
    • Growth mindset with a willingness to learn new tools and methods.
    • Proven ability to estimate work timelines and communicate obstacles.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience with fundraising programs, particularly in international contexts.
  • Proficiency in open-source tools and noSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with terminal environments, orchestration tools, and reverse-ETL tools.
  • Comfort with remote work and cross-cultural collaboration.
