Internship Overview

The Sanitation Technology Intern will support PSI’s WASH team in enhancing sanitation technology solutions. The intern will contribute to product design, technology evaluation, and implementation processes aimed at improving safely managed sanitation. This role provides valuable professional experience, mentorship, and exposure to PSI’s global health programs.


Key Responsibilities

Project Development (60 percent)

  • Research sanitation technologies, including septic tanks, digester toilets, and upgrades.

  • Support development of a decision-making tool for selecting appropriate technologies.

  • Assist in identifying scalable global sanitation solutions.

  • Prepare and present findings to internal stakeholders.

Operational Support (25 percent)

  • Maintain and update internal SharePoint pages and knowledge libraries.

  • Assist with financial tracking and administrative tasks.

  • Contribute to technical writing, proofing, and coordination of learning sessions.

  • Help build a catalog of current PSI technical products.

Learning and Networking (15 percent)

  • Schedule informational meetings with PSI colleagues.

  • Participate in internal learning sessions and organizational events.

  • Support peer coaching and networking opportunities within PSI and among external partners.


Candidate Profile

  • Enrolled in or recently graduated from a graduate program (preferred).

  • Background in engineering, WASH, or a related technical field.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and research skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite.

  • Comfortable working independently and with cross-cultural teams.

  • French language skills preferred.


Additional Details

  • U.S. applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

  • International applicants will be hired via local PSI offices.
