About Kiva

Kiva is a global nonprofit organization founded in 2005 to expand financial access and support underserved communities. By leveraging crowdfunded microloans, Kiva connects individual lenders with borrowers worldwide. With over $2 billion in loans funded by two million people, Kiva has supported more than 5 million borrowers across 100+ countries.

Kiva is a digital-first, mission-driven organization with regional hubs in San Francisco, Nairobi, Bogotá, and Bangkok. Our team includes over 130 full-time employees and more than 700 active volunteers worldwide.

About the Internship

The Kiva Internship Program offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the nonprofit, technology, and microfinance sectors. As a Kiva intern, you’ll receive mentorship, participate in professional development workshops, and contribute to real projects that support Kiva’s global impact.

This is a part-time, remote internship based in the U.S. A modest stipend of $800/month is provided to help offset living costs. Interns are expected to commit 24–32 hours per week for the full 6-month period.

Role Overview

The Review and Translation Program (RTP) engages a global community of over 400 volunteers who translate and edit Kiva loan profiles before they are published on the platform. These profiles are critical to ensuring borrowers’ stories are accurate, accessible, and aligned with Kiva’s policies.

As the Project Manager Intern for the RTP team, you will play a vital role in supporting volunteers, improving internal processes, and assisting with recruitment and community engagement. While this is not a translation role, you will gain firsthand experience with content workflows and volunteer management systems.
