About Project Expedite Justice (PEJ)

PEJ is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization addressing mass atrocities and human rights abuses globally. PEJ employs a victim-centered approach to justice, partnering with local lawyers and investigators to collect and preserve evidence, build local capabilities, and provide legal consulting. With projects in multiple countries, PEJ promotes opportunities for legal professionals and human rights defenders from the global majority to participate in international rule-of-law-based work.


The Opportunity: New Business Development Manager

As New Business Development Manager, you will play a critical role in securing resources to advance PEJ’s mission. You will identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors, driving the organization’s fundraising efforts and enabling impactful projects.


Key Responsibilities

Fundraising Strategy and Planning

  • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to meet annual financial goals.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with individual donors, government funders, corporate sponsors, and foundations.
  • Research and pursue potential funding opportunities.
  • Draft applications and letters of inquiry for selected funding opportunities.

Donor Relations and Stewardship

  • Build and manage relationships with existing and prospective donors.
  • Develop a robust donor stewardship program.
  • Ensure timely communication with donors, including acknowledgments and impact reports.

Event Planning and Management

  • Plan and execute fundraising events, such as webinars and targeted campaigns.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including sponsorships, volunteer management, and promotional activities.
  • Assess and improve event outcomes.

Marketing and Communications

  • Collaborate with the communications team to create fundraising-related materials.
  • Maintain consistent messaging across marketing channels, including social media, newsletters, and the organization’s website.

Database Management and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of fundraising activities in Neon CRM and Google Drive.
  • Prepare reports on fundraising progress for the Executive Director and leadership.
  • Analyze donor data to inform strategy and identify trends.

Team Leadership and Collaboration

  • Lead and mentor team members in development and fundraising.
  • Align fundraising initiatives with the organization’s mission and goals.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and leadership discussions.

Profile: Qualifications and Attributes

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, development, or a related field, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement successful fundraising strategies.
  • Experience with U.S. government (e.g., USAID) or EU donors and private foundations.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in donor cultivation and grant management.
  • Demonstrated experience with grant acknowledgment and reporting.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and donor databases.
