About UNICEF and the Role

UNICEF works globally to defend children’s rights and improve their lives. The Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) division leads the organization’s efforts to mobilize financial and non-financial support from individuals, businesses, and foundations.

This consultancy supports UNICEF’s Audience and Market Insights (AMI) work in the East Asia Pacific (EAP) region by managing market research projects and analyzing data to shape effective, data-driven fundraising and engagement strategies.


Purpose of the Assignment

To support the Audience and Market Insights Manager for EAP, the consultant will:

  • Manage multiple market research projects

  • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors

  • Ensure the quality, accuracy, and usefulness of research deliverables

  • Synthesize findings into actionable insights for UNICEF’s fundraising, communications, and donor engagement efforts


Key Areas of Work

1. Project Management & Coordination

  • Maintain timelines, track deliverables, ensure follow-ups

  • Align research with fundraising and engagement strategies

2. Stakeholder & Supplier Engagement

  • Liaise between UNICEF teams and external vendors

  • Facilitate clear communication and quality project delivery

3. Research Design & Quality Assurance

  • Review surveys, tools, and data for methodological rigor

  • Conduct quality checks on outputs

4. Insight Generation & Reporting

  • Analyze findings and build clear, compelling reports

  • Create slide decks and insight summaries for internal use

5. Knowledge Management & Regional Collaboration

  • Maintain an organized research archive

  • Share insights across EAP offices and global teams

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Social Sciences, Business, Psychology, Statistics, or a related field

  • Postgraduate certification in Market Research or Data Analysis is a plus

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years in market research, consumer insights, or M&E (nonprofit/fundraising experience preferred)

  • Proven ability to manage research projects and coordinate across teams

  • Experience reviewing research tools and outputs for quality and accuracy

  • Regional experience in East Asia Pacific is an asset

Technical Skills

  • Quantitative and qualitative research methods

  • Proficiency in Excel, SPSS, Tableau, Power BI, and survey platforms (e.g., Qualtrics, Forsta)

  • Strong reporting and presentation skills

Soft Skills

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities

  • Clear communicator with ability to translate data for non-technical audiences

  • Collaborative mindset and intercultural competence

  • Independent, proactive, and adaptable

Language

  • Fluency in English

  • Knowledge of an East Asia Pacific language (e.g., Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Malay, Indonesian) is an asset
