Position Summary
As Leather Engagement Manager, you will support the implementation of Textile Exchange’s leather strategy, focusing on engagement with tier 4 stakeholders involved in cattle production for bovine leather. The role aims to align the food and textile industries, promote sustainability tools like the Preferred Fiber and Materials Matrix (PFMM), and foster collaboration across the leather supply chain.
This is a home-based role with flexible working hours and requires availability for collaboration with UK and European time zones.
Key Responsibilities
External Stakeholder Engagement
- Implement Textile Exchange’s leather strategy, focusing on bovine leather supply chains and tier 4 stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary liaison with external stakeholders, including farmers, NGOs, and industry partners.
- Build and maintain partnerships between the food and textile sectors to enhance sustainability practices.
- Promote Textile Exchange tools, such as the PFMM and Regenerative Agriculture Outcomes Framework.
- Represent Textile Exchange at industry events, conferences, and workshops.
- Track and report progress on stakeholder engagement initiatives.
Internal Engagement
- Collaborate with internal teams to adapt tools like the PFMM for bovine leather.
- Support data collection efforts for market reports.
- Align engagement efforts with other Textile Exchange departments.
Cross-Material Support
- Assist with other animal material initiatives, including down and feathers.
- Contribute to the development of reports, position papers, and event agendas.
Qualifications and Experience
Required
- Minimum 5 years of experience in sustainability, stakeholder engagement, or related fields.
- Experience with farm animal certification programs, particularly in cattle production.
- Understanding of food and textile production intersections.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluent English (native or bilingual proficiency).
- Willingness to travel internationally for stakeholder engagements and industry events.
- Passion for sustainability and the fashion industry’s climate impact.
Preferred
- Proficiency in a second language relevant to bovine leather production regions.
- Experience facilitating multi-stakeholder meetings.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Employment Package
