About the Role

WFP’s Business Innovation Unit (BIU) is looking for a consultant to help design and implement innovative financing instruments. These may include blended finance tools, impact investment funds, fundraising platforms, and other mechanisms to unlock new funding sources beyond traditional Official Development Assistance (ODA).

The position involves working on projects across the UN system to support strategic priorities of partners and drive operational innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the design and structuring of innovative finance mechanisms

• Develop financing strategies, business cases, and financial models

• Conduct landscape reviews of emerging finance models across the UN and development finance space

• Engage with investors, donors, and implementing partners

• Prepare reports, presentations, and advisory materials for senior leadership

• Contribute to knowledge sharing and internal capacity-building

• Mentor junior staff and collaborate on broader BIU initiatives

Required Qualifications

• Degree in finance, economics, business administration, public policy, or a related field

• Minimum 2 years of experience in innovative finance, impact investing, or development finance

• Experience in a top-tier management consulting firm or investment bank

• Strong expertise in financial modeling and developing risk-return frameworks

• Familiarity with blended finance, results-based financing, or impact investing tools

• Ability to synthesize and present information clearly and effectively

• Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills

• Fluency in English; knowledge of another UN language is a plus
