Events Coordinator
About the Role
The Fundraising Events Coordinator for North America at Room to Read will play a key role in executing events such as the annual gala in NYC and other fundraising initiatives across the U.S. Reporting to the Senior Director of Global Events, this position requires a dynamic individual with exceptional organizational skills and a passion for engaging donors to support Room to Read’s mission. This hybrid role is based in New York City, with regular travel required to support events nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Event Strategy and Execution
- Collaborate with the Senior Director, Global Events, and North America Development Director on event strategies.
- Manage all logistics, including venues, vendors, guest services, and collateral production.
- Assist Development Managers with event logistics, dietary needs, and venue selection.
- Donor Engagement
- Design unique donor engagement activities to attract high-net-worth individuals and corporate sponsors.
- Partner with local volunteer chapters to recruit and manage event volunteers.
- Secure auction items and event sponsorships, ensuring sponsor cultivation and stewardship.
- Operations and Reporting
- Create streamlined processes for guest registration, promotions, sponsorship tracking, and post-event communications.
- Maintain accurate event records, including RSVPs and donor contributions.
- Prepare detailed post-event reports to highlight metrics such as ROI, average donation per attendee, and new attendee engagement.
Initial Goals (First 3–6 Months)
- Understand the annual events calendar and develop implementation timelines.
- Establish vendor relationships and finalize contracts for events.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure seamless planning and execution.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience coordinating nonprofit fundraising events in New York City, with an understanding of the North American event landscape.
- Proven track record of organizing successful galas and other high-net-worth donor events.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Creative approach to donor engagement and streamlined event operations.
- Experience securing auction items and event sponsorships.
- Willingness to travel and work non-standard hours as needed.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with donor database systems (e.g., Salesforce).
- Proficiency with Canva for design work.
- Experience coordinating events on the West Coast.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $64,570–$76,753, depending on experience and qualifications.
