About the Role

The Wikimedia Foundation seeks an Email Developer (Fundraising) to join its Online Fundraising team. Reporting to the Email Manager for Fundraising Products, this contractor role will focus on coding, optimizing, and delivering high-quality email campaigns to engage donors and drive fundraising efforts globally.

The position involves working closely with internal teams to create and test multilingual, culturally relevant emails for millions of donors annually.

Key Responsibilities

1. Email Production and Development:
   • Code high-quality emails in HTML and CSS to ensure compatibility across devices, clients, and browsers.
   • Create dynamic content and personalization within emails.
   • Maintain and optimize email templates.
2. Campaign Support:
   • Collaborate with Senior Email Campaign Specialists to execute strategic plans, including A/B testing and multilingual email creation.
   • Support the Growth & Campaigns team with banner web development on Wikipedia when needed.
3. Quality Assurance and Testing:
   • Conduct thorough QA to ensure emails are error-free and meet high-quality standards.
4. Collaboration and Coordination:
   • Work with team members to manage project timelines and priorities.
   • Train and guide colleagues on effective use of the Email Service Provider (ESP).
5. Documentation and Reporting:
   • Maintain project archives and document processes.
   • Assist with tracking and reporting campaign performance.

Skills and Experience

Required Qualifications:

• 1+ years of experience coding HTML emails.
• Proficiency in HTML and CSS.
• Experience with creating dynamic content for email personalization.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with project coordination in collaborative environments.
• An email portfolio showcasing previous work.
• Experience with segmentation and audience targeting.

Compensation

• Hourly Pay Range (US-based): $35–$54/hour.
• Adjustments for non-US locations will apply based on the country of hire.
