Position Summary

The Director of Philanthropy, Pipeline & Operations Lead is a strategic leadership role responsible for advancing Heifer’s mid-level donor engagement, qualification strategy, and CRM/data operations. This role reports to the Senior Director of Philanthropy and works collaboratively with internal teams to manage a mid-level donor portfolio, drive fundraising growth, and lead a team focused on donor qualification and pipeline development.


Key Responsibilities

Donor Qualification and Fundraising (25%)

  • Manage a portfolio of 250+ mid-level donors

  • Develop and execute strategies to identify and upgrade major donor prospects

  • Collaborate with program teams to craft donor-specific communications

  • Utilize donor insights to segment and tailor engagement approaches

  • Coordinate with the Heifer Foundation to identify planned giving opportunities

Pipeline Development and Strategy (30%)

  • Launch and manage a mid-level giving program

  • Partner with Marketing and Data teams to refine transitions between donor tiers

  • Monitor pipeline health and adapt strategy to meet revenue and qualification targets

Development Operations (20%)

  • Enhance CRM functionality and data health across portfolios

  • Ensure high standards of donor record-keeping and reporting

  • Collaborate with RDRS to support accurate moves management systems

People Management (20%)

  • Supervise team members, set quarterly goals, conduct performance reviews

  • Provide mentorship and ensure alignment with fundraising goals

Special Projects (5%)

  • Lead strategic initiatives that strengthen overall Philanthropy operations


Minimum Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional experience, with 8+ years in fundraising

  • 4+ years in people management

  • 3+ years of experience with development operations (Blackbaud CRM preferred)

  • Experience managing mid-level donor programs and qualification pipelines

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience


Key Competencies

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills

  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM tools

  • Familiarity with international development and nonprofit sectors

  • Knowledge of ethical fundraising practices (AFP Code of Ethics)


Physical and Travel Requirements

  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally

  • Home office setup required
