Hours: Part-time (0.6 FTE, 21 hours/week, flexible scheduling)
Salary: £69,080 FTE (£41,808 pro rata)

About the Role

Dartington Service Design Lab is seeking a Director of Finance and Operations to join its Senior Leadership Team, driving the charity’s operational, financial, and strategic foundations.

This pivotal role combines strategic oversight with hands-on responsibility across:

  • Financial planning and reporting

  • Governance and compliance

  • People and culture

  • IT systems and infrastructure

  • Team wellbeing and organisational resilience

You will work closely with the CEO to strengthen and scale the Lab’s systems and support impactful work that reshapes services for children and young people across the UK.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead financial strategy, budgeting, and day-to-day financial management

  • Oversee HR, IT, legal, risk, and compliance processes

  • Support a positive, inclusive, and values-driven organisational culture

  • Ensure operational excellence and sustainability of the charity’s infrastructure

  • Collaborate across teams to support bold, systemic initiatives


Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Significant experience in finance and operations at a senior level

  • Background in the non-profit, social enterprise, or consultancy sectors

  • Strong commitment to equity, anti-racism, and social justice

  • Confident working at Executive and Board level

  • Comfortable balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution

  • Skilled in collaborative leadership and creating inclusive workplace cultures
