Position Summary
The Director, Materials Engagement and Partnership will lead Textile Exchange’s engagement with Tier 4 stakeholders—raw material producers and primary processors—ensuring their meaningful participation in standards, reporting, and sustainability initiatives.
As part of the Engagement & Partnerships team, this role will build strategic collaborations, manage a team of specialists, and ensure that the voices of producers are represented in decision-making. The Director will also oversee systems and processes that streamline engagement and drive adoption of Textile Exchange’s tools and resources.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership

Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to engage Tier 4 organizations and producer-focused initiatives.

Ensure producer representation in tool design, testing, and adoption.

Deliver clear value to stakeholders while advancing Textile Exchange’s climate and nature strategy.
Team Leadership

Lead and mentor the Materials Engagement & Partnership team.

Collaborate with Industry Engagement and Activation teams to deliver events, workshops, webinars, and roundtables.
Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement

Cultivate strategic partnerships with producer groups, sustainability schemes, and global initiatives.

Represent Textile Exchange at international events, ensuring diverse voices, especially from producer communities, are included.
Process Development & Feedback

Establish processes to streamline workflows and support regional engagement.

Create feedback loops that inform tool and standard development with actionable insights.

Ensure cross-departmental collaboration to align stakeholder engagement across the organization.
Program Implementation

Oversee adoption of Textile Exchange standards, reporting systems, and resources across cotton, animal materials, and recycled materials.

Track and analyze engagement metrics to measure progress against organizational goals.

Manage budgets and resource allocation effectively.
Qualifications

8+ years of experience in sustainability within the apparel, agriculture, or textile sectors.

Strong expertise in multi-stakeholder initiatives, with preference for Textile Exchange network experience.

Proven track record in building partnerships and engaging with Tier 4 stakeholders.

Demonstrated leadership in team management and budget oversight.

Experience delivering impactful learning and networking opportunities.

Skilled communicator and public speaker, able to represent the organization at senior levels.

Willingness to travel internationally.

Salary Range: $140,000 – $175,000 USD (location-agnostic, final offer in local currency)
