Position Overview
The Director of Enterprise Data Management & Business Intelligence (BI) will lead the design and execution of a comprehensive data strategy. This includes overseeing data governance, enhancing BI capabilities, and cultivating a strong data culture across the organization.
As a member of the Product, Data, and Reporting leadership team, you will build and guide a team of data professionals while bridging the gap between program staff and IT. Your work will directly impact how the ASPCA leverages data to drive decisions and fulfill its mission.

Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership (30%)

Build and lead a high-performing data team (analysts, BI developers, governance specialists)

Define team structure, roles, and hiring plans aligned with strategic priorities

Promote a collaborative, mission-aligned culture of data ownership and innovation

Coach, mentor, and conduct performance evaluations to support staff development

Ensure timely delivery of team projects and initiatives
Data Governance (20%)

Implement an organization-wide data governance framework and policies
-
Establish data roles, training, and documentation for stewards and stakeholders
-
Promote data quality, accuracy, and literacy across departments
-
Foster adoption of governance tools and practices
Business Intelligence (20%)
-
Oversee development of BI tools and dashboards that deliver actionable insights

Advance infrastructure for centralized reporting and self-service capabilities

Collaborate with engineering leadership to ensure scalability of data platforms

Incorporate AI/ML technologies where relevant
Strategy & Optimization (30%)

Co-develop and maintain the enterprise data strategy and roadmap

Identify and lead process improvements and automation opportunities

Evaluate new technologies to enhance efficiency and data impact

Manage vendor relationships related to BI and governance tools
Qualifications
Required
-
5+ years leading a data team (analysts, BI specialists, governance experts)

Hands-on experience with BI platforms (e.g., Power BI, Domo, SSRS)

Experience implementing master data management (MDM) systems

Strong understanding of data architecture, governance, and analytics

Demonstrated ability to align IT capabilities with business needs

Strong people leadership, mentoring, and project management skills

High School diploma required
Preferred

Experience applying AI/ML in business settings

Experience leading cross-functional data strategies in complex organizations

Nonprofit sector experience is a plus

Familiarity with SQL or programming languages (e.g., Python, Java)

Compensation
The anticipated hiring range for this position is $145,000 – $157,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Additional compensation may be available over time based on performance.
