Overview

Join the world’s largest humanitarian network as Director of Disaster Management Programs at the American Red Cross. This fully remote leadership role offers the chance to shape and lead impactful global programs in disaster risk management, climate resilience, preparedness, and crisis response in partnership with the IFRC and national Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage global disaster risk management and climate programs

• Represent the American Red Cross in IFRC preparedness and recovery forums

• Support the design and execution of climate-smart, anticipatory action programs

• Monitor implementation, budgets, KPIs, and impact for investments and grants

• Manage and mentor a team of technical advisors and program specialists

• Strengthen international Red Cross Movement collaboration and knowledge sharing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required

• Minimum 7 years of related experience

• At least 5 years of management experience, including team leadership and grant oversight

• Expertise in disaster preparedness, risk reduction, climate change adaptation, or humanitarian programming

• Experience working in international settings with Red Cross/Red Crescent or similar institutions

• Strong writing, strategic planning, and cross-cultural communication skills

• Working knowledge of French, Arabic, or Spanish is a plus

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary: $120,000–$130,000 annually (no bonus)
