Director, Climate and Nature Impact

Reports to: Chief Impact Officer
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Travel Requirement: Up to 50%
Salary Range: $140,000 – $175,000 USD

Position Summary
The Director, Climate and Nature Impact is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and advancing Textile Exchange’s thought leadership agenda. This includes building bold, credible narratives and frameworks on regenerative agriculture, biodiversity, circularity, and system transformation.
This role requires a visionary strategist with experience influencing systems-level change, crafting compelling business cases for sustainability, and guiding industry alignment around credible climate and nature frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Thought Leadership

Develop and lead Textile Exchange’s thought leadership strategy and deliverables.

Prioritize and publish high-impact narratives, reports, frameworks, and research.

Partner with the Standards System Department to ensure alignment between thought leadership and Textile Exchange’s standards.

Collaborate with the Engagement & Partnerships Department to integrate industry feedback into guidance and communicate outputs consistently to stakeholders.

Work with the Development team to embed thought leadership priorities into fundraising strategies.

Translate complex sustainability issues into compelling, actionable insights for industry, investors, and funders.

Represent Textile Exchange at global events, media, and funder convenings.

Contribute to influential publications that shape industry direction and adoption of impact frameworks.

Safeguard consistency, integrity, and credibility across all thought leadership communications.
Organizational Leadership & Collaboration

Build and mentor a high-performing team aligned with organizational values.

Empower senior staff to lead key priorities within their areas of expertise.

Contribute to strategic vision and organizational decision-making.

Support Board engagement as needed.

Foster a collaborative, inclusive culture that encourages accountability, growth, and innovation.

Drive cross-departmental alignment on impact and thought leadership priorities.
Minimum Qualifications

10+ years of experience in fashion, apparel, or textile industry sustainability.

Recognized leader in sustainability with proven influence at industry level.

Deep knowledge of sustainability topics including regenerative agriculture, biodiversity, climate impact, and circularity.

Exceptional communication and storytelling skills in English; ability to simplify complex issues.

Experience with external representation, thought leadership, and public speaking.

Strong strategic thinking and collaboration skills.
