Development Director – Asian and Pacific Islander American Health Forum
Position Overview
The Asian and Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF) seeks an experienced and entrepreneurial Development Director to craft and lead its fundraising strategy. This position plays a key role in ensuring the financial sustainability of APIAHF and advancing its mission to promote health equity for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities. The Development Director will collaborate with the CEO, leadership team, and Board of Directors to implement a comprehensive fundraising program.
- Location: Fully remote.
- Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Key Responsibilities
- Fundraising Strategy & Implementation
- Design and execute a comprehensive fundraising program, including major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, planned giving, and special events.
- Develop strategies to grow the donor pipeline and foster deeper donor engagement.
- Oversee the creation of fundraising collateral in partnership with the communications team.
- Donor & Grant Management
- Build and manage a pipeline and portfolio of major donors.
- Lead grant writing, research, and submission of proposals and reports in collaboration with programmatic staff.
- Ensure compliance with funder guidelines in all grant submissions and reporting.
- Event Planning & Board Engagement
- Plan and execute events such as donor receptions, the Health Equity Awards event, and the national conference.
- Support the Board Development Committee and empower board members to contribute to fundraising efforts.
- Team Leadership & Operations
- Supervise and manage the development team, with potential to expand staff as needed.
- Provide the team with tools, systems, and processes to achieve fundraising goals.
- Monitor and analyze fundraising data to evaluate performance and refine strategies.
- Organizational Leadership
- Advise the CEO on strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives.
- Serve as a senior leader and engaged member of the organization’s leadership team.
Ideal Candidate
This role is ideal for a seasoned development professional passionate about advancing health equity and eager to innovate within a dynamic organization.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of fundraising and development experience in the nonprofit sector.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Demonstrated success in securing grants from national or regional foundations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Salesforce or similar donor management systems.
- Proven ability to manage, supervise, and develop staff and board members.
- Highly organized with attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
