Role Overview: Communication Writer and Editor

The Communication and Advocacy Section at UNICEF China is seeking an experienced English writer/editor to produce high-quality content. This role involves:

  • Writing and editing publications, reports, fact sheets, and brochures.
  • Supporting communication products such as press releases, stories, and campaign materials.
  • Occasionally assisting with speeches and briefing notes.

The consultancy will span 11 months (February to December 2025) and involve up to 120 working days.


Responsibilities

Main Duties

  • Write and edit communication materials, ensuring clarity and alignment with UNICEF’s mission.
  • Edit technical reports for effective public-facing visibility and advocacy.
  • Collaborate with programme sections for content development.
  • Adapt to evolving office needs as conveyed by the Chief of Communication.

Requirements

Professional Experience

  • At least 10 years of experience in communication, media, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years in writing and editing publications, stories, or briefs.

Skills and Competencies

  • Fluency in English with a strong command of grammar and style.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex topics effectively.
  • Knowledge of China’s development context is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational skills and a results-driven mindset.
  • Familiarity with UNICEF or UN agencies is desirable.
