Chief Programme Officer – Tiko (Remote, South Africa or Other Operational Markets)

Tiko is looking for a visionary and hands-on Chief Programme Officer (CPO) to lead the implementation and scale-up of its girl-centered programs across seven African countries. As a key member of Tiko’s executive team, the CPO will be responsible for strategy, execution, and impact delivery—shaping the future of Tiko’s programs and ensuring integrated, tech-enabled service delivery for adolescent girls and young women (AGYW).

Location: Remote – based in one of Tiko’s operational countries (Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, South Africa, Nigeria, Zambia, Burkina Faso)
Contract Type: Full Time
Travel: At least 25 percent continent-wide travel

Founded in 2014, Tiko is an African nonprofit working across seven countries to address the “Triple Threat” affecting AGYW: early pregnancy, HIV, and sexual and gender-based violence. Tiko’s digital, community-driven platform connects girls to vital health services while strengthening health systems and community ecosystems.

Your Mission as CPO

As Tiko’s Chief Programme Officer, you will:

  • Scale impact from 1 million services today to 5 million girls annually by 2030

  • Lead all country operations, marketing, technical services, programs, and innovation

  • Ensure a data-driven, cost-effective, and AGYW-centered delivery model

  • Guide public-private partnerships, government co-financing, and sustainability efforts

  • Drive design improvements for program effectiveness and platform-based delivery

  • Represent Tiko in strategic conversations with partners, funders, and government stakeholders

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead integrated AGYW-focused delivery ecosystems in all operational markets

  • Ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual impact goals are met

  • Optimize cost per user/service while maintaining delivery quality

  • Strategically manage an $8–12 million annual budget

  • Use platform data for continuous improvement and informed decision-making

  • Empower cross-functional, multicultural remote teams to thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Collaborate with New Business Development for proposal development and funding strategy

Your Profile

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree required

  • 10+ years of experience in NGO, public health, or relevant private sector roles

  • 5+ years in senior leadership, managing large, multicultural teams across multiple countries

  • Proven track record overseeing multi-million-dollar operations and donor-funded programs

  • Experience in reproductive health, HIV, SGBV, mental health, or menstrual hygiene

  • Experience working with government stakeholders on co-financing initiatives

Salary and Benefits

Gross Monthly Salary (based on location):

  • South Africa: R145,932 – R218,899

  • Kenya: Ksh1,200,862 – Ksh1,801,293

  • Ethiopia: €8,922 – €13,383

  • Burkina Faso: CFA3,227,881 – CFA4,841,822

  • Uganda: UGX35,986,448 – UGX53,979,672
