Role Summary

ChildFund is seeking a Senior Technical Advisor, Early Childhood Development (ECD) to provide strategic and technical leadership in designing, strengthening, and expanding ECD programs globally. The advisor will ensure program alignment with global best practices and ChildFund’s Results Framework. The role involves proposal development, donor engagement, partnership cultivation, and collaboration with program design and MERL teams.

Location eligibility: Applicants must have current residence and work authorization in one of the following cities:
La Paz, Belo Horizonte, Guatemala City, Tegucigalpa, Quito, Mexico City, Freetown, Banjul, Dakar, Conakry, Addis Ababa, Nairobi, Kampala, Lusaka, or Maputo.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership to strengthen ChildFund’s global ECD portfolio

  • Design high-quality, evidence-based programs that integrate climate adaptation, child rights, and multi-sectoral resilience

  • Lead development of grant proposals with the Director of Program and Product Design

  • Expand and diversify donor funding by collaborating with Business Development and Grants Acquisition teams

  • Manage the ECD grant acquisition portfolio alongside the Grant Acquisitions Advisor

  • Collaborate with the MERL unit to build ChildFund’s evidence base and thought leadership in ECD

  • Cultivate and maintain partnerships with stakeholders and donors

  • Represent ChildFund in external technical and donor networks

  • Ensure alignment with safeguarding policies and travel up to 20% domestically and internationally


Required Qualifications

Education:

  • BA required; Master’s degree in Public Health (Nutrition focus) preferred

Experience:

  • 8–10 years in ECD program management or technical advisory roles across multiple regions

  • 3+ years international field experience

  • Track record in designing large-scale grants (e.g., USAID, EU, UNICEF, foundations)

  • Proven success in resource mobilization and donor engagement

  • Strong proposal writing, technical design, and program modeling skills


Key Competencies

  • Expertise in child development across physical, cognitive, emotional, and social domains

  • Strong donor relations and understanding of evolving funding models

  • Leadership in matrix environments and multi-disciplinary teams

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and digital collaboration tools

  • High resilience and adaptability in fast-paced contexts

  • Demonstrated commitment to child safeguarding and ethical program delivery
