Contract Project Manager (Remote)

About the Role

The Wikimedia Foundation seeks a Contract Project Manager to join its Communications Department. In this role, you will work closely with the Senior Manager of Program Management and project managers across multiple teams to coordinate cross-functional initiatives supporting the Foundation’s annual plan and strategic goals. Your work will help writers, designers, media and movement communications teams deliver results more effectively and collaboratively.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Senior Manager of Program Management and assist project managers on initiatives and campaigns

• Support project scoping, team coordination, stakeholder identification, and regular meeting facilitation

• Promote a positive, collaborative team culture while tracking dependencies and potential blockers

• Document processes and conduct retrospectives to identify and share best practices

• Monitor project metrics and support accountability to goals

• Help balance scope, workload, and deadlines

Skills and Experience

• 2+ years of experience in project management or related roles

• 2+ years of experience working remotely with distributed teams

• Familiarity with tools like Asana and Google Workspace

• Strong planning, facilitation, time management, and communication skills

• Ability to build trust, work across cultures, and communicate across time zones

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and changing priorities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a global, mission-driven, or non-profit organization

• Understanding of neurodiversity and inclusive practices

• Fluency in additional languages

Compensation

For US-based applicants, the expected pay range is $72,702 to $112,081 per year, adjusted for location and experience. Compensation outside the US will be localized accordingly.
