Role Overview
As New Business Development Lead, you will spearhead efforts to expand Tiko’s funding base by securing significant grants (6–7 figures) from institutional donors, trusts, foundations, and other funding streams. This role is pivotal in leveraging new opportunities to scale Tiko’s impact, refine our fundraising processes, and establish long-term donor relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Grant Acquisition
- Conduct comprehensive prospect research to identify high-potential donors and funding opportunities.
- Develop detailed mappings to uncover pathways for relationship-building with new donors via leadership, Board, or existing partners.
- Lead the entire proposal development lifecycle:
- Evaluate funding opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align priorities and timelines.
- Draft compelling proposals, theories of change, risk matrices, logframes, and other required materials.
- Coordinate with technical and financial teams to ensure high-quality submissions.
- Achieve measurable success in securing new funding streams (6–7 figures).
Donor Relationship Building
- Build strong relationships with institutional donors, foundations, and other funding bodies.
- Create tailored fundraising materials (concept notes, presentations, etc.) to effectively communicate Tiko’s mission and programs.
Process Improvement & Collaboration
- Use tools like Salesforce and Asana to streamline fundraising efforts, ensuring the efficient management of the donor pipeline.
- Collaborate with global teams across Tiko’s country offices to gather necessary information for grant applications and donor reporting.
About You

Experience
- Minimum 5 years in fundraising, with a strong track record in securing major institutional and/or foundation grants.
- Proven ability to raise 6–7 figure funding amounts.
- Experience working in international development NGOs is highly desirable, especially in SRH, SGBV, or women’s rights sectors.
- Experience with tools like Salesforce, Asana, or other fundraising/project management software is a plus.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be based in the UK, Kenya, or South Africa. Preference for candidates able to work from a local office at least one day per week.
- Willingness to travel internationally (1–2 weeks per year).
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary:
- UK: £40,000–£60,000/year
- South Africa: R710,694–R1,066,040/year
- Kenya: Ksh4,534,542–Ksh6,801,813/year
